Loktak Trophy : AMOFA Academy set up final date with TYDA

IMPHAL, Apr 5 : AMOFA Academy will lock horns with TYDA, Toubul in the title clash of the 15th Loktak Trophy Football Tournament for U-17 boys.
AMOFA Academy reached the final of the 6-team tournament with a 6-3 win over GDC, Thinungei in the second semi-final match this evening at Moirang Multipurpose Hr Secondary School playground.
N Dhanaraj was unstoppable today as he netted three goals to set up the big win while W Neckson scored a second half brace.
AMOFA Academy got off to a brilliant start and were leading the first half by 4-2 goals. N Dhanaraj put AMOFA Academy ahead just 5 minutes into the game before adding another four minutes later.
Mangte Steven Kom pulled back a goal for GDC in the 11 minute but Kh Uttam regained the two-goal advantage for AMOFA Academy in the 15th minute before Dhanaraj completed his treble in the 39th minute and made it 4-1. Avijit of GDC scored the second goal for the team one minute into the added time of the first half to make it 2-4.
After the restart, N Bikash scored a goal for GDC to further reduce the deficit but W Neckson's back to back goals in the 85th and the 87th minutes ensured AMOFA Academy closed out the game 6-3.
AMOFA Academy will play TYDA in the title clash on April 7.
