IMPHAL, Mar 28: Niruta Thoudam dazzled with both the bat and ball to fashion THAU, Thangmeiband a 244-run victory over Al-Ameen, Lilong in the opening match of the 1st MNCA U-23 Women's One Day Trophy at Kongba Dhobi Lampak. As many as 11-teams clustered into two groups are taking part in the tournament.
THAU opted to bat first and amassed 283 runs for 9 wickets in 35 overs as Niruta blazed 60 off 47 balls and Al-Ameen bowlers produced a poor bowling show to conceded 91 extras.
Niruta then ran through the Al-Ameen batting order in the chase to dismantle them for just 39 runs in 21.4 overs. She returned with the best bowling figures of 6/8 in 3.4 overs as Pungyambam Milky 1/5, Naoroibam Sophiya 1/7 and Moirangthem Creety 1/1 picked a wicket apiece.
Usham Robeni 29 off 51, Moirangthem Yaiphabi 23 off 29, Brahmacharimayum Seterny 20 off 17 and three others also managed double digit scores for THAU after they opted to bat first. The innings saw Najiya Begum (2/14 in 3 overs), Laishram Langlenthoibi (2/43 in 6 overs) and Konthoujam Shinthoihenbi (2/62 in 7 overs) sharing 6 wickets among them while two others picked a wicket apiece.
For Al-Ameen, only Najiya Begum 17 off 37 managed a double digit score as five batters departed on duck and four ended with single digit scores.
Thoudam Niruta eventually walked away with the player of the match trophy.
