2nd MNCA H Biramangol Memorial Trophy PCC cement position on top of Group D with fourth win on trot

IMPHAL, Mar 26 : PCC, Mayaikoibi further solidified their position on top of the Group D table in the 2nd MNCA U-23 Men's Haobam Biramangol Memorial Trophy 2024-25 with an 86-run thrashing of Blue Hawk at Lairenjam Public Ground.
With the fourth win on the trot, PCC inch towards quarterfinals with a match left to spare against RULE, Meitram who are literally out of contention with two losses in four games.
Takhelmayum Vikash produced an outstanding all-round performance in PCC's victory today contributing 44 highest runs in the team's tally of 175/10 before collecting four wickets (4/18 in 8 overs) and aided Nongmaithem Lamngnanba (5/17 in 7.3 overs) in dismantling Blue Hawk for 89 runs within 25.3 overs.
Wairokpam Max 26 off 35, Wakambam Maverick 22 off 39 and Thokchom Lucky 16 off 35 also produced leading performances for PCC after they elected to bat first.
Heisnam Samsung (3/20 in 7 overs), Akoijam Dhitaraj (2/28 in 6 overs) and Moirangthem Romesh (2/24 in 8 overs) led the bowling for Blue Hawk before they slumped to 89 all out in the face of prolific bowling performances from Lamyanba and Vikash. Only Nandakishor 33 off 43 and Moirangthem Romesh 11 off 39 managed double digit runs for Blue Hawk.
Vikash was eventually adjudged player of the match.
Elsewhere at Khudeiband Lampak, YUCC, Kwakeithel Moirangpurel Leikai thrashed Model Club, Singjamei Chingamakha by 5 wickets for the third straight Group A win.
Model Club opted to bat first and but were bundled out for 115 runs in 23.4 overs as Ningthoujam Sanjit (5/28 in 7.4 overs) and Khundrakpam Punsiba (3/25 in 5 overs) rattled their line up and YUCC raced to the winning 118/5 in 19.4 overs.
N Bisal 35 off 30 topscored for Model Club before Laishram Bidyashwor 27 off 28, M Kadamjit 33 off 33 and Ningthoujam Sanjit 20 off 17 played key role in the YUCC chase after a stuttering start. Yanglem Suson of Model Club finished with a two wicket haul (2/23) as Bisal picked one (1/32).
Ningthoujam Sanjit who picked five wickets and added an unbeaten 20 was adjudged player of the match.
ESU, Wangkhei also eased to their third Group B win today at Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground by beating REYS, Khwai Nagamapal Lamabam Leikai by 20 runs.
ESU were bundled out for 142 runs in 32 overs despite Soibam Sayonba's 45-ball 49 and Hanjabam Naoba's 53-ball 41 as Elangbam Atomba (4/31), Yungkham Romario (2/21) and Ringku Kangujam (2/30) shared 8 wickets for REYS.
ESU however successfully defended their total by bowling out REYS for 122 runs in 21.4 overs courtesy of Hanjabam Donba's five for (5/17 in 4.4 overs).
Ringku 46 off 18 and Y Romario 24 off 26 emerged highest run getters for REYS in their innings that also saw ESU's Khundrakpam Bishomcha (2/17) and Thokchom Simesh (2/38) sharing four wickets.
H Donba Sharma was eventually adjudged player of the match.
Elsewhere at Moijing Public Ground, CYCLONE, Thangmeiband overwhelmed FORCE, Kshetrigao by 188 runs for their third Group C victory in four matches.
Ningthoujam Thoiba 103 off 52 (15 fours and 4 sixes) and Moirangthem Thomsan 102 off 95 (14 fours) toyed with the FORCE batters to help CYCLONE amass 295/10 after electing to bat first.
CYCLONE then relied on Sougaijam Robinson (4/21 in 3 overs), Md Aqeel (3/27 in 6 overs) and Maibam Napolian (2/1 in 2 overs) to dismantle FORCE for 107 runs within 17.3 overs as only Naeem 38 off 40, Zahid Sheikh 16 off 28 and Zahir Abbas 22 off 14 managed double digit runs for the team.
Ningthoujam Thoiba, who starred with a ton and produced an unmissable fielding performance, was declared man of the match.
