2nd MNCA H Biramangol Memorial Trophy K Boocker stars again as PCC cruise to third win on trot

IMPHAL, Mar 24 : Kangujam Boocker produced an impeccable all-round performance yet again in PCC's 20-run beating of TCMDC, Thongju for the third Group D win on the trot in the 2nd MNCA U-23 Men's Haobam Biramangol Singh Memorial Trophy 2024-25.
Put in to bat first at Khudeiband Lampak, PCC rode on a dazzling 72-ball 124 (5 fours and 11 sixes) from Boocker Kangujam to post 289/6 in 40 overs and successfully defended their total by restricting TCMDC to 269/9.
PCC had a shaky start to their innings and were reduced to 73/4 in 15 overs before Max Warokpam 30 off 37 and Takhelmayum Vikash 32 off 28 forged a 48-run partnership for the 5th wicket to give the team some respite.
With Vikash's departure in 27.3 overs, PCC were 170/6 and from there, Boocker and Mairembam Lucky 41 off 45 balls (4 fours) stitched together an unbeaten 119-run partnership to take PCC to 289/6.
Kongbrailatpam Kalyan (2/47 in 8 overs) picked two wickets for TCMDC as Urikhinbam Rain, Laishram Valindra, Laishram Vishonath and Laishram Vivekananda picked a wicket apiece.
In reply, TCMDC had a positive start and rode on half centuries from Vivekananda 87 off 57 (13 fours and 2 sixes) and Rain 66 off 67 (4 fours and 1 six) to remain in contest but Rain's departure in the 38th over at 262 for the 8th wicket foiled their bid.
Boocker (3/41 in 8 overs) and Thokchom Lucky (3/41 in 8 overs) shared a bulk of 6 wickets for PCC as Takhelmayum Vikash picked two (2/46).
Boocker was eventually walked away player of the match trophy.
Elsewhere at Moijing Public Ground, PTCC, Patsoi crushed CRAU, Khamnam bazar by 9 wickets for their first Group A victory.
Toss winners CRAU were bundled out for 108 runs in 18.1 overs as Tongbram Devas (4/15 in 3.1 overs), Loukrakpam Anao (4/33 in 5 overs) and Moirangthem Dominic (2/12 in 4 overs) of PTCC wreaked havoc. Only four batters including Th Joychandra 26 off 14 and Azhar 23 off 10 managed double-digit runs for CRAU in their innings.
Paonam Champion 51 not out off 59 and Mandingbam Andy 38 not out off 44 then finished off the chase for PTCC in 21.1 overs after losing Roberson in the 8th over.
Devas who led the PTCC bowling attack was declared player of the match.
Meanwhile at Lairenjam Public Ground, Md Karim led al-Ameen to 8 wicket victory over KSDO, Kyamgei for the second Group B victory.
Md Karim (3/24 in 5 overs), Shohel Akter (2/0 in 0.4 over), FM Sakil Ahamed (2/6 in 3 overs) and Umar (2/9 in 3 overs) combined well to dismissed KSDO, who opted to bat first, for 58 runs in 16.4 overs before Md Sharoz Khan 29 off 21 and Thokchom Boboicha 28 off 21 produced an unbeaten third wicket partnership to seal the victory in 9.4 overs.
Md Karim was declared player of the match.
Elsewhere at Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground, Thomsan Moirangthem scored a 64-ball 101 to inspire CYCLONE, Thangmeiband a 77-run victory over SCCC, Singjamei Thongam Leikai. It was the second win for CYCLONE in three Group C matches.
After opting to bat first, CYCLONE rode on Thomsan's ton and Ninthoujam Thoiba's 34-ball 54 to amass 260/6 before bowling out SCCC for 183 runs in 27.2 overs despite Khwairakpam Ulenyai's 50-ball 62 as Oinam Reolin (3/23 in 4.2 overs), Md Aqeel (2/41 in 7 overs), S Robinson (2/49 in 6 overs) and Thomsan (2/30) ran through their line up with ease.
Earlier in the first innings, Khaidem Lishan picked two wickets (2/47 in 7 overs) as three others claimed a wicket apiece.
Thomsan who shone with both the bat and ball was eventually named player of the match.
