15th Shaheed Manoranjan Memorial Football YSWA, FC Raengdai progress into quarterfinals

IMPHAL, Feb 5 : YWSA, Utlou and FC Raengdai, Noney  are in the quarterfinals of the 15th Shaheed Manoranjan Memorial State Open Football Tournament 2024-25 as they posted first round victories today at SAI Artificial Turf Ground, Takyel.
In the fourth match of the tournament, YSWA saw off ASUFII FA 7-6 on penalties after a goalless draw in the regulation time to set up a quarterfinal date with KLASA, Keinou who beat AIM, Khabam by a slender 1-0 margin yesterday.
N Ajitkumar, Chinglen, Indrajit, Jackson, Charles, Birjit,  and Obedhia scored for the Utlou side in the shoot-out before Tomjoseph missed the target for ASUFII FA after Korouhanba, Matthan, Matahnmi, Lanjonlung, Arunkumar and Kenner kept the team in contention by converting from the spot.
Later in the day, FC Raengdai beat WAFA, Wangoi by 3-1 goals to make it to the last-8 round of the competition. The two sides were evenly poised in the first half but entered the break goalless before FC Raengdai raced to a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Sobha (66') and Bikramjit (68').
WAFA pulled back a goal through Ronald in the 73rd minute but Giftson retained the two goal lead for FC Raengdai in the 78th minute and eventually earned the team a 3-1 win.
They will play the winners between YDO and PATHAP in the quarterfinals.
