Meditation key to reduce stress : Dr Palin

IMPHAL, Feb 5 : To promote a healthier lifestyle, an addiction free Manipur campaign was held in the presence of esteemed personalities in the healthcare field at Lamphel today.
Organised by Brahma Kumaris, Manipur under the theme "Brain Rewire for Unlimited Happiness" as part of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan at the hall of Indian Medical Association (IMA), the programme was attended by Shija Hospitals & Research Institute Chairman Dr Kh Palin; Associate Professor Dr Kumam Anthony (Manipur University's Mathematics Department); Associate Professor of Neurology Dr Swapan Gupta (GB Pant Institute, New Delhi) and IMA, Manipur branch president Professor RK Lenin as chief guest, guest of honour, special guest and president.
Speaking at the event, Dr Palin said that a state of mind is a crucial aspect of a person's being as it influences thought, emotions, attitudes and behaviour.
Overthinking is a significant source of stress for many people, he said while appealing to all to practice meditation regularly to reduce stress and promote overall well-being.
Saying that ego distracts people from enjoying the moment, Dr Palin maintained that living in the moment can have a profound impact on a person's ability to develop new ideas and see life with clarity.
Dr RK Lenin, on the other hand, said that restlessness has become a common phenomenon in modern life.
Saying that people can calm their minds by meditating regularly, he added that meditation doesn't necessarily mean staying silent though silence can be a powerful tool for meditation. Being positive also helps, Dr Lenin said.
