IMPHAL, Feb 5 : Thang-Ta Maheikol, Yumnam Huidrom were crowned overall team champions of the Khelo India State Level Thang-Ta Championship organised by the Sports Authority of India, North-East Regional Centre Imphal at MP Hall of the centre.
As many as 252 boys and 185 girls across sub-junior, junior and senior categories (from 47 Thang-Ta units across the State) competed for top honours in the championship which was held from February 1 to 5.
Thang-Ta Maheikol amassed 21 gold, 10 silver and 1 bronze medals to secure the overall team champions title as Meitei Nongsha Thang-Ta, Heirok finish first runners up with 8 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze medals and Kanglei Thang-Ta Sindamshang, Maklang finished second runners up with 7 gold, 8 silver and 1 bronze medals.
The 5-day event was brought to a close in the presence of Nameirakpam Kunjarai, Commandant CRPF, GC Langjing as chief guest; Laijing L Maring, Assistant Director (Pers and Admin), SAI NERC Imphal as functional president; Shivam Yadav, Assistant Director (Coaching and Infra), SAI NERC Imphal and Laishram Samritya, Assistant Director (Khelo India), SAI NERC Imphal as guests of honour.
