IMPHAL, Feb 5 : Nungba AC MLA Dipu Gangmei has said that the Hill Areas Committee is constantly in touch with Kuki MLAs to resolve the crisis in Manipur.
Dipu Gangmei is the Chairman of HAC.
Speaking as the chief guest while attending the inauguration ceremony of an open gym cum public park at Thiyam Leishangkhong Khwai Leirak in Wangoi today, Dipu Gangmei said that the warring groups need to let go of past grievances and forgive one another to end the conflict.
To a media query, the MLA said that the HAC has been working to work out a solution to the crisis by letting the parties in conflict communicate and clear their misunderstandings.
The MLA said that he is hopeful the crisis will be resolved soon.
Dipu Gangmei reiterated that they are constantly in touch with the Kuki MLAs who are members of the HAC.
Saying that the situation in Manipur has improved, he added that collective effort of all elected representatives is needed to let Manipur heal.
Dipu Gangmei, meanwhile, said that he was happy to see people of different communities living harmoniously in Wangoi.
He said that the ongoing crisis in Manipur may not have taken place if there was understanding among the people.
Saying that Manipur has been facing the problems of poppy plantations, large scale deforestation and illicit drug business, he said that all these problems have to be resolved for the Manipur society to develop.
He also said that the Meetei being the larger community need to play a larger role to save the future of Manipur and her people.
The open gym was constructed by MLA Kh Loken from the Local Area Development Fund.
