IMPHAL, Feb 5 : N Sunny, Joshua and Devson secured men's open singles opening round wins as N Premjit, Ashok, Suraj, Becker got byes in the 14th CYLC State Level Open Tennis Tournament which kicked off today at CYLC Tennis Court.
N Sunny beat Sunny Chirom 6-1, 6-2 to set up a quarterfinal date with N Premjit as Joshua earned an easy 6-0, 6-0 win over Jekson to set up a quarterfinal date with Suraj and Devson pulled off a 61-, 6-2 win over Kelvin to set up a quarterfinal date with Becker.
40+ men's doubles
The day also saw completion of 5 first round matches of the 40+ men's doubles competition. In a first round match, Premjit and Tuleshwor beat Kondum and Manikanta 9-3 before Ibohal and Sanayaima knocked out Ratan and Amarjit 9-1. While RK Pritam and Bona got a walkover win against Chaoba and Shitaljit, the pair of Balkrishna and Suraj pulled off a 9-3 win over Arvind and Boleyn as Ashok and Aken notched up a 9-0 win over N Premananda and Amol in another match.
