CM lays foundation stone for multi-storeyed residential quarters

IMPHAL, Feb 3 (DIPR): The Government has been putting all efforts since 2017 to bring developmental changes across the State in both the hills and the valley, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said today.
The Chief Minister was speaking as the chief guest of the foundation stone laying ceremony for construction of multi-storeyed Government quarters at Langol Housing Complex, Imphal West.
N Biren Singh said that around two and half years were lost to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, despite the challenges, the Government had made some notable achievements, he added.
After his Government returned for the second term, it has lost around two years due to the present situation. But the Government has not stopped, but continued with developmental projects and at the same time is working towards resolving the situation, the Chief Minister stressed.
N Biren Singh said that the multi-storeyed housing quarters will be G+7 buildings.
He explained the need for vertical expansion to minimize land use, and urged the PDA and the contractors concerned to work efficiently and complete the building on time.
The project is being taken up at a cost of around Rs 65.60 crore with funding of HUDCO and State share.
The twin block (G+7 building) will have 64 dwelling units of Type-III having 2 bedrooms, 1 kitchen, 1 living cum dining room, 2 attached toilets, balconies and other amenities.
Stating that more high rise buildings will be constructed, the CM said 13 such Government quarters are being constructed at New Checkon.
He also talked about the Lamphelpat Water Rejuvenation project and said it may be used as a recreational spot.
The event was attended by several Ministers including Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh, Th Basanta Kumar, Khashim Vashum, MLAs including Sapam Kunjakeswor Singh, Karam Shyam, Usham Deben, Th Shyamkumar and Losii Dikho.
