Chiromcha's last rites held

IMPHAL, Feb 3 : The last rites of Captain Chiromcha of Koireng-led UNLF were held at his native village at Mayang Imphal Thana Awang Leikai today.
Captain Chiromcha alias Chirom Robindro was killed in a gun battle with Myanmar-based KNA(B) militants near Indo-Myanmar border on January 30.
The last rites were held using a Pang-gong as a ceremonial replacement for the remains of Captain Chiromcha.
At N Tomchou Higher Secondary School ground, a large number of people including family members paid floral tributes to the Captain.
A procession carrying the coffin was carried out on major roads in Mayang Imphal and later laid to rest at his residence after a gun salute.
Notably, there were intense gunbattles between cadres of Manipur based underground outfits and members of KNA(B) militants near Indo-Myanmar border in Kamjong district area for days recently during which Captain Chiromcha was killed.
Several cadres of KNA(B) were killed in the gunbattles.
