IMPHAL, Feb 3: Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (RD&PR) Minister Yumnam Khemchand has reached Delhi at the invitation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Ahead of the seventh session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly, Amit Shah invited Speaker Th Satyabrata and the two held a meeting.
This was followed by similar meetings between the Union Home Minister and some Ministers and MLAs of the State Government one after another before Khemchand was invited to Delhi.
Khemchand left Imphal for Delhi at 1 pm today.
Notably, before leaving for Delhi, Khemchand met with some BJP MLAs who are not happy with Chief Minister N Biren’s leadership and his response to the protracted Manipur crisis.
It is said that Khemchand would present a detailed account of the grievances and wishes of the MLAs to Amit Shah.
Khemchand may also submit a representation signed by some MLAs who want to replace Chief Minister N Biren with another BJP leader to Amit Shah, said one BJP MLA who is said to be among the signatories.
On the other hand, some BJP MLAs opined that Amit Shah invited Khemchand to Delhi for a talk on holding the State Assembly session peacefully without undue disturbances or disruptions.
It has been already reported that Amit Shah during a recent meeting with Speaker Th Satyabrata asked the latter to see that the Assembly session is conducted smoothly and peacefully.
Meanwhile, Amit Shah invited MLA Dr Thokchom Radheshyam to a meeting yesterday at his residential quarters at Delhi.
On the other hand, some BJP MLAs who did not want to be named, said that around 10 BJP MLAs are poised to raise a no trust motion against Chief Minister N Biren in the forth- coming Assembly session.
