Bowlers lead KCC, CYCLONE to victory in 9th MNCA Elite Tournament

IMPHAL, Feb 3 : Bowlers played pivotal role as KCC, Kongba Bazar and CYCLONE, Thangmeiband registered their second wins in the ongoing 9th MNCA W Prahlada and W Ramananda Elite Tournament.
At Moijing Public Ground in Thoubal, KCC bowled out Model Club, Singjamei Chingamakha for 108 runs in 26.4 overs and fought their way to winning 111/6 in 30.2 overs.
Put in to bat first, KCC had a forgettable innings as Wahengbam Somorjit (4/16 in 6.4 overs), Tayenjam Tomba (3/23 in 7 overs) and Nameirakpam Arbin (3/26) ran riot to dismiss them at 108. M Langlonyamba on 29 was the highest run getter for Model Club in this innings followed by W Kisan 20, Th Deepak 15 and N Dibak 10.
In reply, KCC also lost their wickets regularly but Nongmaithem Dijaraj anchored with a painstakingly slow but used 29 (off 75 balls) to guide KCC to 111/6 in 30.2 overs along with K Basantakumar 18. W Somorjit 22 and N Tony 12 also managed double digit scores for KCC.
W Somorjit who picked four wickets and added 22 was adjudged player of the match.
Elsewhere at Model Hr Sec and Oriental College ground, CYCLONE handed SCCC, Singjamei Thongam Leikai an 8-wicket loss thanks to Md Aqeel's five-for.
SCCC opted to bat first but were dismissed for a meagre total of 59 runs in 17.2 overs as Md Aqeel ran through the top and middle order batters on the way to his five wicket haul (5/19 in 7 overs) with the assistance of Kishan Laishram who returned with the figures of 2/10 in 2 overs.
Only Khaidem Joyraj 19 and H Rakeshwor Republic 13 made double digit scores for SCCC in the first innings that also saw Reolin Oinam and N Denin of CYCLONE pick a wicket apiece.
CYCLONE then cruised to winning 63 for 2 wickets within 9 overs thanks to Loktongbam Santosh's unbeaten 23 and N Thoiba's 33.
