AMBTA suspends stir

IMPHAL, Feb 16 : The All Manipur Bulk Transporters Association (AMBTA) has suspended its proposed protest against non-payment of compensation to LPG transporters for a few more days after holding a meeting with Chief Secretary Prashant Kumar Singh today.
The meeting was also attended by the Director of CAF & PD, State level coordinator of IOCL and manager of the Sekmai Gas Bottling Plant.
During the meeting, the Chief Secretary reportedly agreed to put in effort to fulfil the demand of AMBTA.
The Chief Secretary also said that he will go to New Delhi tomorrow and present the demand of AMBTA before the officials of the Ministry concerned.
The Chief Secretary will return to Imphal on February 19 and hold another round of meeting with the transporters on February 20 again.
AMBTA agreed to suspend the cease work strike till February 20 following the assurance given by the Chief Secretary.
AMBTA has been urging the Government to compensate the losses they incurred in transporting LPG along NH-37 since the onset of the crisis in Manipur.
