IMPHAL, Feb 16: For the first time after the resig-nation of N Biren from the post of Chief Minister, the BJP high command held a meeting last evening on the current political situation of Manipur and deliberated on electing a new leader of the State’s BJP legislators.
After the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi from foreign visits at Delhi last morning, the BJP high command held a meeting in the evening.
Well placed sources said that the meeting deliberated on electing a new leader and re-instalment of an elected Govt in Manipur.
According to the sourc-es, the BJP high command would hold another round of meeting on the political situation of Manipur on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National president JP Nadda would attend the meeting.
The BJP high command’s meeting scheduled on Tuesday may elect a new leader who would head a new Government in Manipur.
Once a new leader is elected, he/she may be sworn as the Chief Minister of Manipur very soon and as such there would be a popular Government in the State, said the sources.
There is also another possibility of keeping the name of the new leader unannounced before he/she is sworn in as the Chief Minister of Manipur after a gap of around two months.
An Advisor to the Governor of Manipur may be appointed at the BJP high command’s meeting scheduled on February 18.
If an Advisor to the Governor is appointed at the meeting, a new Chief Minister may be sworn in only after two months or so, said the sources.
