IMPHAL, Feb 12 : NCA, Nambol crushed CCK, Khongman by 307 runs for the third Group A win in four matches and raised their pre-quarterfinal hopes in the ongoing 4th MNCA U-14 Boys Tournament 2024-25.
NCA opted to bat first at Lairenjam Public Ground after winning the toss and piled up a huge total of 356 runs for 3 wickets in the allotted 30 overs and bowled out CCK for 49 runs within 9.4 overs.
Thongam Rahul scored an unbeaten 195 runs off 111 balls to guide NCA to the big total with the assistance of Ahenba Longjam who made 55 off 38 balls. Hidam Jibago and Ksh Vikramjit picked a wicket apiece in this innings for CCK.
Chasing the big total CCK slumped to 49 all out as Ahenba Longjam enjoyed a four wicket haul (4/13) and Thongam Rahul (2/1) and Toijam Bhartesh (2/2) shared four wickets for NCA.
Thongam Rahul was adjudged player of the match.
Elsewhere at Khudeiband Lampak, CDCC, Sagolband Salam bowled out LCC for 88 runs in 25.1 overs after winning the toss and chased down the target in 10.5 overs with 8 wickets left to spare. It was their first win in four Group B matches of the tournament.
Mangal Thongam 26 and Samson Nahakpam 14 were the only double digit run getters for LCC who were asked to bat first.
Iquebal Korimayum led the CDCC bowling attack and returned with a fifer (5/11 in 6 overs) as Umar Farooque (2/5 in 2.1 overs) picked two wickets before Zakariya scored an unbeaten 39 to steer CDCC to winning 90/2 in the chase.
Iquebal Korimayum was named player of the match.
In the Group C match staged at Kongba Dhobi Lampak, YAL, Thoubal Leishangthem earned their third win in four matches by beating KCC, Kongba Bazar by 9 wickets.
KCC opted to bat first after winning the toss but were bowled out for a meagre total of 50 runs in 12.2 overs before YAL cruised to winning 54 in 6.5 overs thanks to an unbeaten 31 from Yohenba Keisham. Earlier in the first innings, Keisham Nongpoknganba ran riot across the KCC batting line up and returned with an impressive 6-wicket haul (6/22 in 6 overs) as Thoiba finishes with a two wicket haul (2/6 in 3 overs)
Nongpoknganba was eventually adjudged player of the match.
