Players to don black wrist band
IMPHAL, Jan 31 : To advocate for Manipur's territorial integrity, players of Young Organisation Sporting Club (YOSC) have decided to wear black wristbands in the opening match of the 17th Manipur State League, the second biggest football league of the State organised by All Manipur Football Association (AMFA).
Addressing the media in this regard at Manipur Press Club today, YOSC general secretary Konsam Victor said that YOSC will square off against Elite in the opening match tomorrow at Khurai Lamlong Turf ground.
Saying that they will use the sporting event as a platform to pay tributes to everyone who died fighting for the cause of Manipur's territorial integrity and advocate peace by wearing black wristbands, he said that the YOSC team promotes unity in diversity by comprising players from both hill and valley districts.
He also said that many of the YOSC players had taken part in the movement to safeguard the territorial integrity of Manipur amid the ongoing crisis in Manipur.
Expressing desire for other athletes from Manipur to also wear black badges while competing in the National and international sporting events to raise awareness about the crisis besieging the State, Victor added that sports can be used as a platform to bring peace and positive changes in Manipur.
