IMPHAL, Jan 31 : Having sealed the team event titles, Manipur further cemented their superiority in the 28th Junior National Sepaktakraw Championship securing both the boys and girls' regu event titles.
In the boys' regu event final of the championship hosted by Andhra Pradesh at Nandyal, Manipur beat neighbouring Nagaland 15-12, 15-9 to earn the top honour.
They defeated Delhi 15-7, 17-14 in a keenly contested semi-final clash earlier to make it to the final.
Manipur swept the league round earlier securing straight sets victories against Madhya Pradesh (15-7, 15-5), Himachal Pradesh (15-3, 15-3), Kerala (15-2, 15-11) and Odisha (15-5, 15-9).
In the quarterfinal, the State lads thumped Maharashtra 15-11, 15-5 to set up a semi-final date with Delhi.
Meanwhile in the girls' competition, Manipur secured the top honour by defeating Kerala 15-10, 15-13 in the final.
Notably, they had to hold their nerves to overcome Haryana 17-16, 17-15 in a keenly contested semi-final match earlier yesterday.
They also enjoyed easy straight set victories against teams like Punjab (15-13, 15-2), West Bengal (15-8, 15-6), Delhi (15-9, 15-4) and Gujarat (15-7, 15-7) in the league round matches to progress into the quarterfinals.
In the quarterfinal, Manipur defeated Bihar 15-9, 15-13 and earned the semi-final berth.
