Ten films shortlisted

IMPHAL, Jan 31 : At least 10 feature and non feature films have been shortlisted for competition as countdown for the 2nd North East India Film Festival, (NEIFF), Manipur begins.
The films shortlisted for the competition section  are Amateurs (Assamese), Baghjan (Assamese Moran), Laangoi (Manipuri), Lang-dai Ama (Manipuri), Oi- tharei (Manipuri), Sunita (Manipuri), Oneness (Mani-puri) and Una Una (Manipuri) in the feature film category and Legacy of 4 Generations (Manipuri) and Where is My Home (Assamese) in  the non feature film category.
The 2nd edition of NEIFF will be organised by THOUNA, Manipur in association with Film Forum Manipur and DIPR  from February 12 to February 16 across four venues in Imphal and Kakching districts - three in Imphal and one in  Kakching.
Speaking to the media at the auditorium of DIPR at Nityaipat Chuthek today,  chairman of 2nd NEIFF organising committee Yengkhom Nilachandra said that the 10 films (eight feature and two non-feature  films) were selected by the jury after examining all the nominations.
He said that 28 feature films and 10 non feature films were submitted for the competition section.
There will be eight awards for feature film category and only one titled best film for the non feature film category, Nilachandra added.
Over 10 films may be screened during the festival, he said.
Festival director L Surjakanta, on the other hand, said that the 2nd NEIFF will be inaugurated by Governor Ajay Bhalla at City Convention Centre on February 12 by screening Mareibak Ningba Herachandra.
He also said that three more films - Khomlang Laman, Langdai Ama and Taru Tarubi will be screened at Tantha Polis on the first day of the festival.
The closing cum award distribution ceremony of the festival will be held at Library and Information Centre, Kakching on February 16.
