Two held

IMPHAL, Jan 31 : Imphal West District Commando and City Police team arrested two active members of RPF/PLA on the afternoon of January 29 for their alleged involvement in extortion activities in Imphal area.
The arrested duo have been identified as Nepram Bothe Meitei (24), s/o N Deva Meitei of Nongada Santipur Maning Leikai and Yengkhom Gyandas alias Dinku alias Chaningkhomba Singh (24), s/o Y Premkumar Singh of Pallel Mamang Leikai.
After receiving information about the presence of two miscreants trying to extort money from shops located at Masjid Road , the combined team rushed to the spot.
They successfully caught one of the miscreants, Nepram Bothe, after a short chase while the other, Yengkhom Gyandas, managed to escape.
The Commando team immediately pursued across different locations and later traced him to Langthabal area.
Once again, Gyandas tried to escape upon seeing the Commando team approaching, after which the Commando personnel fired some rounds in the air. The team managed to successfully overpower the man and one .32 pistol along with a magazine loaded with seven live rounds was recovered from his possession.
During interrogation, both of them revealed that they are active members of RPF/PLA working under the command of one SS Pangsareng alias Somo of Yairipok.
Aside from the .32 pistol, two mobile handsets and one Royal Enfield were seized from their possession.    
The arrested persons were handed over to the City Police Station and remanded to police custody after being produced before the Court.
