RIMS hosts cervical cancer awareness prog
IMPHAL, Jan 9 : A one-day cervical cancer awareness programme for nursing students was held at Banting Hall, RIMS,Imphal on the theme, “Prevention and Early Detection of Cervical Cancer” today.
The programme was jointly organised by Hospital Based Cancer Registry (HBCR) & Population Based Cancer Registry (PBCR), ICMR project, and Department of Pathology, RIMS, Imphal.
The awareness programme was conducted to educate nursing students about cervical cancer's etiology, risk factors, prevention strategies, and the crucial role of nurses in raising awareness and supporting patients. The event emphasized early detection and vaccination as vital tools in reducing cervical cancer mortality.
A total of 80 participants, including nursing students, nursing faculties, faculties, senior residents, and postgraduate students of the Pathology Department, attended the programme.
The session commenced with a welcome speech and keynote address by Prof Sushma Khuraijam, Head of Pathology, RIMS, and Principal Investigator of PBCR & HBCR.
