Young Welfare Club emerge champions of 4th MNCA Superplate Tournament

IMPHAL, Jan 9 : Young Welfare Club, Langthabal (YWC-L) were crowned the champions of the 4th MNCA Superplate Tournament 2024-25 as they notched up an emphatic 83-run victory against RCA, Lilong today in the final match today at Moijing Public Ground.
YWC-L opted to bat first but were dismissed for 182 runs  in 34.1 overs as RCA bowlers ran riot with their impeccable performances. YWC-L bowlers however overhauled RCA bowlers to dismantle RCA line up to bowl them out for 99 runs in 32.5 overs and walked away Rs 1,50,000 richer.
Seram Robinson topscored for YWC-L adding 28 runs off 36 runs as Maibam Subash added 24 runs off 24 balls. Ngangbam Bingson and Soubam Robinson also added identical 19 runs for the team as Ngangbam Bishwash 10 and Pukhrambam Prasantamani 14 also found themselves among the double digit run getters for the team. The innings saw Md Danish Khan enjoy a four wicket haul (4/35 in 7 overs) for RCA while Zamir Khan (3/23 in 4.1 overs), Illiyas (2/22 in 5 overs) and Zuned (1/25 in 3 overs) shared 6 wickets. They also conceded 37 extras in this innings.
Chasing 183 for the win, RCA had a stuttering start and were reduced to 33/4 in 10.5 as Maibam Subash (2/19) removed both the openers and Yumnam Chingkhei Nganba (2/18) removed the third and fourth wickets.
The slump continued with Yenshembam Vivek Singh removing Syed Hussain on 27 for the fifth wicket before Soubam Robinson further reduced RCA to 65/6 removing Md Anush on 10 in the 23rd over.
Vivek then removed Md Danish in the 24th over to pick his second wicket before getting rid of Aziz and Illiyas in the 2nd and the 5th delivery of the 28th over to reduce RCA to 76/9 and piled further misery.
Md Nasirshah Alam was unbeaten on 32 when Heisnam Manikanta undone Zuned on 5 for the 10th wicket as the scoreboard read 99. Y Vivek returned with the best figures of 4/16 in his spell of 7 overs and was adjudged man of the match and feted with a cash prize of Rs 3,000.
The closing event saw winners YWC-L being feted with a cash prize of Rs 1,50,000 along with certificates and a trophy as RCA content with Rs 1,00,00 besides certificates and a trophy.
Zamir of RCA, who claimed 23 wickets in 9 innings, was declared man of the series as well as the highest wicket taker and feted with a cash prize of Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively.
Meanwhile, Jay Singh of RULE, who emerged highest run scorer with 369 runs to his name in 7 matches, was feted with a cash prize of Rs 5,000.
