CM to attend Gaan-Ngai

IMPHAL, Jan 8: Chief Minister N Biren Singh will attend the State Level Gaan-Ngai celebration on January 12 at Sagolband Ramji Kabui village, Imphal, said the celebration committee today.
Alongwith the Chief Minister as the chief guest, MLA Sapam Kunjakeshor will attend the celebration as the guest of honour.
Water Resources Minister Awangbow Newmai will attend the festival as the president of the function.
MLA Janghemlung Panmei and Dinganglung Gangmei, Chairman of Hill Area Committee (HAC) will attend as the hosts of the function. In a statement, the celebration committee said the Gaan-Ngai Festival this January will feature a host of rites and rituals such as prayer of Ho-hoing, feast, songs, dances, traditional games and making of "Holy Fire" for purification and prosperity for the entire community.
"May this year's Gaan-Ngai Festival bring prosperity, peace and normalcy in the State of Manipur," said the celebration committee sending its wishes to all the people of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland in general and Zeliangrong people in particular. The committee appealed to all leaders of CSOs, village authorities, different religious denominations, youth clubs, women societies, students and youths to participate in the festival.
