Drugs seized at CCpur

IMPHAL, Jan 7: Assam Rifles apprehended two persons along with suspected brown sugar and WY tablets worth over Rs 6 crore on January 4 at Khuga, Mata village, Churachandpur district.
The seized suspected brown sugar weighing 776 grams (approximately) inside 60 soap cases worth Rs 6.99 crore and WY (Yaba) tablets weighing approx 60 grams worth Rs 2.70 lakh were found inside a Maruti Suzuki Baleno on checking.
The operation was launched after reliable inputs were received regarding transport of huge quantities of drugs through the permanent vehicle check post at Khuga, Mata Village, said IGAR (South) in a statement.
In addition to the drugs, the Assam Rifles personnel also seized some cash in Indian currency.
The apprehended individuals along with seized contraband items and the vehicle have been handed over to Churachandpur police station, said AR.
