IMPHAL, Jan 7: Commissioner (Home) N Ashok Kumar and All Manipur Bulk LPG Transporters Association (AMBTA) held a meeting today on the cessation of LPG transportation but the meeting could not bring any agreement.
On behalf of the State Government, the Commissioner (Home) held a meeting this afternoon with a team of AMBTA led by its president A Tamphayai and secretary Kh Jodha.
IOCL’s State Level Coordinator RK Mohen and Sekmai LPG Bottling Plant Manager Samerjit Kshe- trimayum were also present at the meeting.
The AMBTA team pointed out that the current transportation charge was negotiated for Imphal-Dimapur highway where LPG bullet TTs were able to make three trips in a month.
The same transportation charge is being applied on Imphal-Jiribam highway. As a result, the LPG transporters have been incurring losses rather than earning any profit.
Moreover, LPG bullet TTs cannot make even two trips in a month on Imphal-Jiribam highway, the AMBTA team said.
They urged the Government to compensate for the losses suffered by the LPG transporters and the meeting came to an abrupt end.
