IMPHAL, Jan 5 : Thoubal clinched the boys Cricket title in the State Level School Sports Meet being organised by the Directorate of Education (S).
Thoubal chased down a target of 62 runs set by Imphal East with 9 wickets left to spare at Oriental College ground to seal the title.

In the meantime, Wangoi edged out Chandel by 9-8 goals in the first semi-final match of the boys' football competition at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong before Thoubal crushed Bishnupur by 7-1 goals in the second semi-final match to complete the final line up.
Shelpa (36') scored it for Chandel after Wangoi took the lead through L Hemba (8') in the regulation time of the first semi-final match before the game was decided via penalty shoot-out where in Wangoi emerged 7-8 winners courtesy of L Roshan, M Girish, L Hemba, Th Saikhomba, Th Abinash, Y Bikash, Ch Korou and P Mangal.
In the shoot-out, RL Rimuar, Rangsai Franklyn, Mothahring Pashel, Binith Chimanya, HL Beningtha Anal, Kangten Bungsenwar and Master Hrinthahring found the target for Chandel.
Meanwhile in the second semi-final match, Thoubal ran riot to knock out Bishnupur by 7-1 goals.
Sadique Alam Shah (34', 38', 48') scored a hattrick in Thoubal's big win as Moirangthem Bean (3', 56') and Y Surjakanta (7', 33') added two goals apiece.

Thoubal and Chandel emerged boys and girls volleyball winners of the Sports meet at Khuman Lampak Volleyball Ground.
In the boys' final, Thoubal beat Imphal East in straight sets (25-19, 25-18, 25-21) before Chandel girls beat Imphal East team in the same fashion (25-9, 25-6, 25-13).
