IMPHAL, Jan 5: In a series of joint operations by Indian Army, 42 weapons, ammunition and other war-like stores have been recovered from hill and valley regions of Manipur in the districts of Imphal West, Chandel, Thoubal, Kangpokpi and Churachandpur.
The operations were conducted in coordination with Manipur police and other security agencies in the last few days, said a press release issued by PIB(DW).
On December 30, Army recovered a carbine machine gun (CMG), a modified .303 rifle, two pistols, three single-barrel rifles, grenades, ammunition and other war-like stores in a joint search operation with Assam Rifles, CRPF and Manipur Police in the Konchak area of Imphal West district.
Also, a M-16 rifle, three lathods, seven improvised explosive devices (IEDs), ammunition and other war-like stores were recovered in a joint operation by Assam Rifles and Manipur Police at a location between Thingphai and TS Laijang village in Chandel district on December 31, 2024.
In Churachandpur district, Indian Army, SSB and Manipur Police recovered an SLR rifle, a .303 rifle (modified), two automatic pistols, one single-barrel 12-bore gun, one anti-riot gun, grenades, ammunition and other war-like stores from Khujairok Nala area, northwest of Thumkhonglok on December 31.
Assam Rifles and Manipur Police launched a search operation in a jungle near Saiboh village of Sangaikot Sub-Division on January 2, 2025 that resulted in recovery of a self loading rifle (SLR) rifle, two pistols and three 12-bore single barrel rifles.
Further in a series of operations in Konchak (Imphal West), Leishangthem (Thoubal), and Laibol Khunou (Kangpokpi) areas between December 30, 2024 and January 3, 2025, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police recovered a carbine machine gun, a .303 rifle (modified), four single barrel rifles, seven pistols, one sniper rifle (modified), two single bolt action rifle, a sniper rifle (modified), an impro- vised long range mortar, a 12-bore gun, ammunition and other war-like stores.
