NCP set to take Manipur case to PM

IMPHAL, Jan 3 : Sanjay Prajapati, coordinator & observer of North East States of National Congress Party (NCP), has said that the party will submit a seven point memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to abrogate the Suspension of Order (SoO) pact, implement National Register of Citizens (NRC) with 1951 as base year and to deport illegal immigrants so as to resolve the crisis besetting Manipur.
He made the statement during a press briefing held at the residence of NCP Manipur unit president cum ex-MLA of Wangoi Assembly Constituency Salam Joy at Samurou yesterday.
Saying that he came to Manipur to exchange views about the unrest with the party executives, Sanjay added that NCP will urge the Central leadership to ensure free movement of vehicles along Imphal-Jiribam and Imphal-Dimapur roads in the memorandum.
Salam Joy, on the other hand, demanded strong intervention of the Centre to work out a solution to the crisis in Manipur.
The draft memorandum which is made available with The Sangai Express listed seven demands to open both Imphal-Dimapur and Imphal-Jiribam roads, abrogate the SoO pact, implement NRC in Manipur with 1951 as the base year, deport illegal Kuki immigrants from Manipur, repeal Armed Forces Special Power Act, 1958 from the entire Manipur, facilitate resettlement of internally displaced people to their respective homes and to protect the border areas.
