Veteran Cricket : LCCC beat CHAMP by 2 wickets

IMPHAL, Jan 3 : LCCC, Lilong Chajing pulled off a 2-wicket win over CHAMP, Khagempalli for the second Group C win in the ongoing 21st Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament 2024-25.

CHAMP opted to bat first and gathered 185 runs for 9 wickets in the allotted 30 overs before LCCC cruised to the target in 29 overs with two wickets left to spare.

Sanjoy 48 not out, Gopeshor 41 and Heman 21 were the leading run getters for CHAMP in the first innings that saw Jackson (3/28) and Saphaba (2/27) leading the LCCC bowling attack. Surjit, Deepak, and Kison also picked a wicket apiece for LCCC.

In reply, Srinivas struck 65 and Saphaba added 43 to give early flourish before Kison 15 not out and Bijen 4 not out finished off the chase.

Bablu of CHAMP starred with a four wicket haul (4/28) as John picked two wickets (2/26) and Pixilz and Sajan claimed a wicket apiece.

Saphaba of LCCC who added 43 runs and picked two wickets was adjudged player of the match.
