IMPHAL, Jan 3 : AMI-MYDO-B, Mayang Imphal defeated YPA, Hiyanglam and KEYDA, Konuma to sweep Group B league stage to reach semi-finals in the 1st State Level Junior Volleyball Tournament organised by Sekmaijin Khunou Youth Club (SKYC) at its playground.
The tournament organised under the aegis of the All Manipur Volleyball Association kicked off yesterday with the participation of 7 teams clubbed into two groups.
AMIMYDO-B opened their account by defeating YPA by 3-1 sets. They conceded the first set but rallied in the remaining sets to seal the game 23-25, 25-19, 25-18, 25-16.
Later in the second match staged in the afternoon, they pulled off a 25-18, 27-25, 25-17 win over KEYDA to confirm their place in the semi-finals as Group B winners.
Meanwhile in the second Group A match staged this morning, SVC, Santhel beat YVC by 3-1 sets after falling down in the second set. They won the first set with a hardfought 27-25 margin but went down 21-25 in the second set before making their way back with a 29-27 and 25-22 wins in the remaining sets to register the 3-1 win.
Yesterday in the opening match, AMIMYDO-A beat hosts SKYC in straight sets.
