Govt jobs await Gold Medallists in Natl Games

IMPHAL, Jan 30 : Taking cognizance of the good show  put up by sportspersons in the ongoing National Games as well as in the past and in the past Asian Games, the State Cabinet which met today evening decided to give Government jobs to those who won/have won Gold medals at the said games.
The Cabinet also decided to give appointment to Naorem Roshibina Devi (Arjuna Awardee) as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (Sports) in the Police Department on special consideration and to appoint Khagembam Memi Devi, wife of late Kh Bungo Singh, ex-Rifleman in 5 Manipur Rifles, who passed away in a tragic road accident on November 15, 2017.  
Memi Devi will be appointed as either a  police Constable or a Follower in the State Police Department.
The Cabinet meeting was a marathon affair, stretching late into the evening today.
Interestingly RD and PR Minister Yumnam Khem-chand, who had missed three previous Cabinet meetings was present today.
A source close to the Minister said that Khem-chand missed the last three Cabinet meetings as the invitation to attend the meeting did not reach time once while on the other two occasions he was on leave.
The Cabinet also discussed and decided on giving Government appointments to medal winners in the National Games held down the years.
The Governor's address scheduled to be delivered on   February 10, the first day of the 7th session of the 12th Assembly, was also discussed during the Cabinet meeting today.
The Cabinet meeting also  agreed on the re-engagement of the Additional Secretary to the Governor besides other points including increasing the post of Agriculture Officer and Assistant Agriculture Officer in the recently conducted exam on January 5 for filling up the posts of AOs and AAOs on contractual basis.
Creation of one ex-cadre post of ADGP to be held by an IPS officer and filling up of 12 posts in Group C and D in the Raj Bhavan were other decisions taken.
