Arms, explosives recovered

IMPHAL, Jan 30: A number of arms and explosives have been recovered by a combined team of Kakching commandos, personnel of Wangoo police station and 46 Assam Rifles from a secluded foothill area of Chairel Khunou this morning.
During the search operation which started at around 7.50 am and went on till around 8.35 am, one cement bag and a one plastic bag containing arms and explosives were recovered.
The recovered items included one assault rifle, one 9 mm pistol with empty magazine, one IED weighing around 5 Kg, two hand grenades, one smoke shell, one tear smoke grenade, one PEK stick with fuse and detonator, one wire of length 3 metres, one helmet, one bullet proof vest and a pair of jungle boots.
The recovered items were later handed over to Wangoo police station.
