Punshiyai Badminton Training Centre kicks off free basic badminton coaching programmes

IMPHAL, Jan 2 :  Punshiyai Badminton Training Centre today kicked off its one-month free basic badminton coaching programmes for three categories at the Imphal Western Club's indoor hall, Uripok Khumanthem Leikai.
The 5th edition of free Basic Badminton Coaching for players below 15 years will be supervised by the Imphal Western Club while the 1st edition of  Veteran Winter Badminton Coaching and coaching for 6 years to open category will be held at Blue Sports Complex, Tera Sadokpam Leikai, said Punshiyai Badminton Training Centre in a release.
As many as 127 trainees including 89 male and 38 female candidates will be receiving high class teachings from highly experienced coaches including Heikrujam Punshiba (BWF Coaches Level I and State Badminton Umpire Grade I) and Heikrujam Yaiphaba, it said.
The inaugural function was attended by 1st International Umpire and Referee from North East, Hodam Gyaneshwar as chief guest; general secretary of the Imphal Western Club, Wakambam Sarat as functional president and L Pratap Singh as guest of honour.
Speaking at the occasion, Hodam Gyaneshwar noted the dominance of Mongoloids in the field of Badminton and encouraged all to take advantage of being Mongoloid stock and excel through proper training and coaching. He also added that such basic training programmes are key to becoming successful players and lauded Punshiyai Badminton Training Centre for the initiative, the release said.
