IMPHAL, Jan 2 : IBSA, Yumnam Leikai defeated YWC, Patsoi (YWC-P) by 4 wickets to go second in the Group A league table and boost their knock-out round hopes alive in the 9th MNCA Plate Tournament.
Opting to bat first at Lairenjam Public Ground, YWC-P gathered only 139 runs for all wickets down in 32.5 overs and IBSA cruised to the winning 143 in 30.3 overs with 4 wickets left to spare to seal their fifth win in 7 matches.
Azmad Khan of IBSA produced a standout performance with the ball as he enjoyed a fifer (5/25 in 7 overs) as Wakongthem Ashishkumar finished with the highest score of 30 runs for YWC-P followed by Tongbram Donadoni 19 and Maibam Ramakanta 18.
Yengkhom Bhomendro of IBSA also chipped in with two wickets (2/28) as Mk Tamim, Pravesh and Boney Potsangbam picked a wicket apiece.
For IBSA, Subhas Khundrakpam 26, Khundrakpam Lemba 18 and Nelson Keithellakpam 13 made significant contributions early on before Yengkhom Bhomendro (34 off 39 balls) and Azmad Kh (25 off 20 balls) produced an unbeaten partnership of 51 runs together for the 7 wicket to take the team to winning 143.
Azmad Kh, who shone with the bat and ball, was adjudged player of the match.
Elsewhere at Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground, MPA pulled off a 52 run victory over SHADOW, Thangmeiband riding on half century knocks from Yumnam Sheiteendra and Huidrom Dhanashyam.
Yumnam Sheiteendra blasted 61 off 37 balls (4 fours and 6 sixes) and Huidrom Dhanashyam knocked 54 off 36 balls (7 fours and 2 sixes) to guide toss winners MPA to 196 for 6 in the allotted 28 overs before bundling out SHADOW for 144 runs in 27.2 overs thanks to a concerted bowling effort led by H Dhanashyam (3/36 in 6 overs).
Th Chinglensana (2/24), Naorem Britain (2/38) and Vivekraj Chabungbam (2/20) of MPA shared 6 wickets as Devis Khunjamayum 27, Md Aslam 25 and Sagatpam Telheiba 19 led the SHADOW chase in a lost cause.
For SHADOW, Md Aziz Khan (2/41) and Sagatpam Telheiba (2/31) shared four wickets as S Loyumbam picked one wicket.
Huidrom Dhanashyam who shone with both the bat and the ball was adjudged player of the match.
