Energy is the foundation of life, and its impact is two-fold: ensuring inclusive access for all while protecting the planet. This dual challenge underscores the urgent need for clean energy solutions. Without energy life is not possible and energy lies at the core of a double challenge which means leaving no one behind and protecting the Planet. Like energy we talk much about clean energy or renewable energy.
Clean energy or renewable energy encompasses sources that generate minimal to no pollution or greenhouse gas emissions, thereby minimizing harm to the environment. Examples include solar energy, wind energy, hydro energy, geothermal energy, biomass energy, etc.
The positive thing is that transitioning to clean energy is crucial for mitigating climate change, improving air and water quality, enhancing energy security, supporting sustainable development, etc. We should learn that in a world grappling with climate change, clean energy plays a vital role in reducing emissions, and can also benefit communities lacking access to reliable power sources. Still today, 685 million people live in the dark - more than 80 per cent of them in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The current time tells us that we have to combat climate change which also means we need to end our reliance on fossil fuels and invest in alternative sources of energy that are clean, accessible, affordable, sustainable, and reliable. Renewable energy sources which are available in abundance all around us, provided by the sun, wind, water, waste, and heat from the Earth are replenished by nature and emit little to no greenhouse gases or pollutants into the air.
The International Day of Clean Energy on 26 January was declared by the General Assembly (resolution A/77/327) as a call to raise awareness and mobilize action for a just and inclusive transition to clean energy for the benefit of people and the planet.
26th January is also the founding date of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), a global intergovernmental agency established in 2009 to support countries in their energy transitions, serve as a platform for international cooperation, and provide data and analyses on clean energy technology, innovation, policy, finance and investment. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) is the nodal Ministry of the Government of India for all matters relating to new and renewable energy. The broad aim of the Ministry is to develop and deploy new and renewable energy to supplement the energy requirements of the country.
There are many career options in this field like wind turbine service, technicians, data scientist, solar installers, greenhouse worker , recycling worker, environmental scientist , environmental technician , urban planner , air quality engineer , energy manager , energy engineer , solar consultant etc . Renewable energy careers are roles in which you provide services, research or analysis for anything related to natural and renewable energy sources.
We are aware that renewable energy is energy that comes from nature or the planet's natural sources that replenish themselves. Careers in this field are endless and choosing a career in clean energy is also our commitment towards sustainability. Let’s embark on a fulfilling career in renewable energy and contribute to a cleaner, greener future!
