Kamjong celebrate R- Day

KAMJONG, Jan 28 (DIO): Kamjong District Administration celebrated the 76th Republic Day on Sunday at Kamjong Higher Secondary School Ground with much enthusiasm and patriotic fervour.
The ceremony began with the chief guest Rangnamei Rang Peter, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Kamjong District, unfurling the tri-colour flag followed by the national anthem.
The DC was accompanied by Kamjong SP, Ningsem Vashum. Various heads of the departments and staff of the Kamjong District were present at the event.
Addressing the gathering, DC Rangnamei Rang Peter, pointed out the significance of this day by highlighting the sacrifices made by our great freedom fighters to conceive freedom, liberty and equality that has made India become the biggest democracy in the world.
To sustain the progress of freedom celebrated everywhere in India, he emphasised on attainment of education and urged the public to make use of the free education policy to enrich oneself. He mentioned that just attaining education is not enough but holistic education is what the nation needs.
The chief guest further spoke on women empowerment and the necessity of educating women for the welfare of the society.
He further laid emphasis on the digital India policy asserting that it is through this policy that India has achieved a remarkable progress on the deliverance of various welfare schemes.
DC Rangnamei Peter urged the gatherings to keep on practicing tolerance and fraternity as is written in the preamble of our constitution and to never cease in upholding sovereignty, and integrity of India.
A large number of enthusiastic students and workers from various schools and departments participated in commemorating the event.
