Inter CCI Football League kicks off

IMPHAL, Jan 28 : Inter Child Care Institutions (CCI) Football League organised by the Department of Social Welfare, Government of Manipur and Child Care Institutions Guild kicked off today at SAI Complex, Takyelpat in Imphal West.
The football tournament was officially launched by Heikham Dingo, Minister  for Social Welfare, Fisheries, Skill, Labour,  Employment and Entrepreneurship as chief guest. Ngangom Uttam, Director, Social Welfare Department and Keisham Pradipkumar, Chairperson, Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights also attended the event as functional president and guest of honour.
Declaring the 28-team 4-day knock-out tournament   opened, Heikham Dingo said that the tournament will surely leave a good impact among the inmates of the Child Care Institutions/ children homes.
The tournament will also provide the children a platform to interact among themselves and exchange their views, he said.
Dingo also said that all efforts will be made to fully implement State Child Policy.
Speaking at the occasion, Chairperson of  Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights Pradipkumar said recruitment of underage children as labours or soldiers is illegal and stressed on the importance of raising social awareness for the welfare of the children.
Noting the use of  helpless children for seeking sympathy amidst the crisis situation, he also advocated that children should be helped instead of abusing them.
