IMPHAL, Jan 28 : AMCA, Thoubal; KSDO, Kyamgei; AKSDO, Khangabok and YWC, Langthabal (YWC-L) sealed opening game victories as 4th MNCA U-14 Boys Tournament 2024-25 kicked off today at four venues.
The league cum knock-out tournament is participated by 33 teams clubbed into 6 groups. Group winners, runners ups and two best third placed teams after the group stage will progress into the pre-quarterfinals that will be followed by quarterfinals, semifinals and the final.
In the match no 1 staged at Kongba Dhobi Lampak, AMCA registered a 3-wicket win over PCC, Mayaikoibi by chasing down a target of 95 runs set up PCC in 21.3 overs.
AMCA's Sahid Khullakpam enjoyed a fifer (5/10 in 6 overs) to set up PCC collapse at 94 within 23.1 overs before AMCA rode on an unbeaten 32-run 8th wicket partnership between Sahid Khullakpam 14 and Moichingmayum Imran 11 after Sakir Maibam 12 and Md Sarif 13 provided early flourish.
Simon Konthoujam 20 and Lamnganba Nongmaithem 19 led the scoring for PCC who opted to bat first before Lamnganba Nongmaithem (4/8) and Moirangthem Hirachandra (2/22) shared 6 wickets in a lost cause.
Sahid Khullakpam was adjudged player of the match.
Meanwhile, YWC-L posted a comprehensive 202-run victory against PTRC, Patsoi Part IV in their own backyard.
Daneil Seram blazed a 52-ball 144 and Seram Tondonba struck 59 off 43 balls to inspire toss winners YWC-L a total of 290/10 in 27.2 overs despite Bedabiyas' fifer (5/25) and Ch Goutam's two wicket haul (2/87).
Chasing the huge total, PTRC slumped to 88 all out in 18.5 overs as YWC-L bowlers proved too good. Only Bedabiyas on 26 was the highest run getter for PTRC as Daneil Seram (3/10) and Kelvinson Khoisnam (2/2) shared five wickets for YWC-L.
Eventually, Daneil Seram who produced an all round show was declared man of the match.
Elsewhere at Khudeiband Lampak, Taothong, Chingamba Elangbam scored a 92-ball 106 (12 fours and 2 sixes) to guide AKSDO to a 98 run victory against PTCC, Patsoi Part III.
Courtesy of Chingamba's 106 and double digit scores from Kh Borish 17, Kh Korounganba 18 and N Bidyananda 25 not out, AKSDO registered 211 runs for 5 wickets in 30 overs.
AKSDO then bowled out PTCC for 113 runs in 27.4 overs riding on leading bowling performances from Md Ushmal Ali (2/31), Shailesh Khundrakpam (2/16) and Punshiba Akoijam (2/8).
Chingamba was eventually adjudged player of the match.
Meanwhile at Lairenjam Public Ground, KSDO notched up a 161-run victory over TCMDC, Thongju Part II Pechu Lampak thanks to Kh Firdos, Khutheibam Abu Sufiyan and Md Soheb Khutheibam.
Kh Firdos topscored with a 51-ball 75 and Khutheibam Abu Sufiyan added 37-ball 39 to lead toss winners KSDO to a comfortable total of 222/7 in 30 overs before Md Soheb (5/18) and Khutheibam Abu Sufiyan (3/18) led in dismantling TCMDC line up for 61 runs in 17.3 overs.
For TCMDC, Chandrasekhar Sharma (2/43) and Sagolsem Bolyson (2/32) shared four wickets before their dismal chase led by Chandrasekhar Sharma Kharibam Yohenba by adding 10 runs apiece.
Md Soheb Khutheibam who starred with the ball was adjudged player of the match.
