Imphal, Jan 25: The Manipur State Committee of All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) has submitted a memorandum to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla to take up necessary initiatives to resolve the crisis in Manipur and to fence the Indo-Myanmar border after proper demarcation of the traditional line.
Speaking to the media in this regard at Manipur Press Club today, State secretary of the Bloc Khomdram Gyaneshor said that the Indo-Myanmar border has been a subject of dispute for a long time.
He said that the fencing of Indo-Myanmar taken up in 2010 was halted due to opposition by different civil society organisations over land disputes.
Saying that there even has been a case of a border pillar missing, he asked whether the Government has resolved the dispute.
The Government must clarify whether the issue has been resolved or not as the border fencing project has resumed, he said.
It is good that the border fencing project has begun but dispute, if any, must be settled first, he said and demanded a fresh demarcation of the Indo-Myanmar border at the traditional line to ensure no parties lose their land.
About the ongoing crisis, Gyaneshor said that Manipur has become a lawless State.
Saying that both the Centre and the State Government haven't taken up any concrete initiative to restore normalcy other than confusing the people by delivering inconsistent statements, he said that the Government involvement in creating the conflict in Manipur cannot be dismissed outright.
Manipur is in complete mess today with no effective governance visible, he said while urging the Governor to fulfil their demands.
