9th MNCA Elite Tournament Model Club, REYS cruise to second straight wins

IMPHAL, Jan 25 : Model Club, Chingamakha and REYS, Khwai Nagamapal posted their second straight victories today in the ongoing 9th edition of the MNCA W Prahlada and W Ramananda Elite Tournament.
At Model Higher Secondary and Oriental College ground, Model Club extended their winning run by pulling off a 5-wicket win over CRAU, Khamnam Bazar who were dismissed for 175 runs in 40 overs after being let to bat first.
Waikhom Priyokumar (3/22 in 8 overs), Robertson Laishram (2/19 in 5 overs) and Anand Naorem (2/40) led the bowling attack of Model Club, who won the toss and opted to field. Dibak Naorem (1/27) and Bisal Ningombam (1/22) also picked a wicket apiece in the first innings that saw Khumanthem Prakash 34, Lamabam Jotin 32 and Ayekpam Rakesh 29 making most of the runs for CRAU.
In reply, Wahengbam Kisan (66 off 75 balls; 8 fours and 1 six) and Maisnam Tejkumar (54 off 46 balls; 9 fours and 1 six) hit half centuries to set the tone for Model Club's victory before Langlonyamba (37 not out off 42 balls; 3 fours) and Bijenkumar (8 not out off 7 balls; 2 fours) finished off the chase in 30.4 overs.
Khumanthem Prakash (2/44 in 5.4 overs), Takhellambam Kala (1/26), Lamabam Ajay (1/27) and Heisnam Joyhenba (1/39) were among the wickets for CRAU.
Wahengbam Kisan who topscored for Model Club was adjudged player of the match.
Elsewhere at Moijing Public Ground in Thoubal, REYS rode on Kiran Laishram's prolific bowling performance to beat SCCC, Singjamei Thongam Leikai by 4 wickets.
SCCC opted to bat first but were bundled out for 134 runs in 35.2 overs as REYS's skipper Kiran Laishram picked three (3/12 in 8 overs) and Dingku G (2/15), Sapam Bikash (2/27) and Pinkey Singh Sanasam (2/9) aided the bowling attack and returned with two wickets apiece.
Khaidem Joyraj 28, Moirangthem Satish 23, Phijam Lamnganba 16, Khaidem Lishan 16 and Laishram Ronson 15 were the leading run getters for SCCC after they opted to bat first.
Chasing 135 runs for the win, REYS lost 6 wickets before contributions from Jaali Ahmed Chisti 48 and KKV Mustaque 38 not out helped the team secure winning 138 in 36 overs.
Moirangthem Thomas (2/3) and Rex Waikhom (2/39) shared four wickets for SCCC as Bikash picked one.
Kiran Laishram was eventually adjudged player of the match.
