Natl Voters Day observed

IMPHAL, Jan 25: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Manipur observed the 15th National Voters’ Day 2025 at its office complex at Lamphelpat today.
The National Voters' Day was observed under the theme “Nothing Like Voting, I Vote For Sure”.
During the observance, several voters who have reached 100 years of age were presented with shawls and blankets.
EPIC cards and badges were given to new voters.
2 Returning Officers (ROs), 5 Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) were presented with gifts and winners of SVEEP campaign were awarded prizes.
Speaking at the observance, Chief Secretary Prashant Kumar Singh said India has over 99 crore voters and of this, 64 crore cast their votes.
The number of female voters who cast votes is greater than the population of many big countries, he said.
In the last 75 years, India has gone through great changes. India's electoral rolls are one of the most authentic documents, and an accurate database, Prashant Kumar said.
Expressing his belief that the situation in Manipur would improve, the Chief Secretary urged young voters to exercise their rights and cast their votes wisely.
"The State and the Nation would move forward when youth voters cast their votes sincerely and wisely," he said.
DGP Rajiv Singh, who attended the observance, said even though there was violence in the State, the Lok Sabha elections were held successfully in the State.
The DGP said he has been the Chief Central Force Coordinator under the ECI. Overseeing security over an election is not an easy task, he said. The current Manipur crisis needs the administration, judiciary and the people to work collectively to restore normalcy, he said.
CEO Manipur, Pradeep Kumar Jha said the day was observed for the voters, who are an integral part of a democracy. During the last Lok Sabha elections, all out efforts were made not to leave any voters. Special polling stations were installed for internally displaced voters, he said.
