Imphal, Jan 24 : Taking a swipe at BJP for blaming the Congress party for the unrest gripping Manipur, former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has stated that a Government is a continuing process not permanent.
He made the statement during a felicitation ceremony held in honour of the new office bearers of Manipur Pradesh Youth Congress, District Youth Congress and Assembly Youth Congress at Congress Bhavan today.
At the function, Ibobi asked why the BJP Government is always blaming the Congress instead of showing commitment to resolve the crisis.
Even if the Congress had done wrongs in the past, the incumbent can always fix them, he advised.
Saying that the BJP Government has not presented any solutions to the problems they claim were created by the Congress, Ibobi maintained that the Government should focus on finding solutions and making amends rather than blaming the previous Government all the time.
Afterall, a Government is a continuing process, he reasoned while accusing the BJP Government of creating animosity among the people.
Is the Government going to sit idly despite knowing about issues which need attention, Ibobi asked adding that a responsible Government should take proactive steps to address pressing issues.
He also said the crisis in Manipur is a global issue.
Tens of thousands of people are still languishing in relief camps amidst the harsh winter, Ibobi continued while accusing the double engine BJP Government of being tyrannical.
Further stating that people of Manipur have been facing numerous challenges and injustices since the onset of the crisis, Ibobi accused the Centre of not treating Manipuri people like fellow Indians.
A renowned United States based journalist had listed the crisis in Manipur among eight global issues which need solving under the presidency of Donald Trump, Ibobi said.
MPCC president K Meghachandra, CWC member Gaikhaingam and MLAs also attended the programme among others.
