The National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) has issued stringent directives in response to the illegal influx of Kukis into Manipur especially in Kamjong and Tengnoupal districts.
The directives, outlined in a letter dated November 8, 2024, refer to a resolution passed during the Joint Meeting of the National and Political Affairs Committee on November 5, 2024.
The letter instructed the Wung Tangkhul Region, Khurmi Region, Kuki Tribal Union, and the Naga Army to ensure household and population census in villages under the Eastern Kuki Chief Association (EKCA) jurisdiction.
The document directed the groups to obtain a written commitment from every Kuki village to refrain from cooperating with anti-Naga groups, especially the Kuki National Army (B) faction (KNA-B), and to ensure Kuki Chiefs desist from entering into any agreement with the group.
Further, the letter called for the Kuki villagers to refrain from providing shelter to individuals with questionable affiliations and to stay confined to their daily normal activities or otherwise to prove doubts. The NSCN warned that any slightest violation of the above directives would invite appropriate action against any individuals, group, or entire villagers.
