Bond of unity will grow when there is respect :CM
Imphal, Jan 21 (DIPR): Chief Minister N Biren Singh attended the 33rd General Conference Cum Sports Meet, 2025 held at Riha village, Kamjong district today.
The programme was organized by Tangkhul Aze Katamnao Long (Southern Tangkhul Students’ Union).
Addressing the gathering the Chief Minister expressed his happiness on witnessing the scenic beauty of the surrounding and appreciated the locals for taking good care and preserving the environment.
He said that the BJP led Government does not differentiate hill and valley in the developmental projects but believe in inclusive development of the State.
"When we show respect for one another, the bond of unity will grow stronger," he added.
Elaborating some major works taken up in the last seven years in Kamjong, the Chief Minister said that the construction of Mini Secretariat, Kamjong has already completed and it will be inaugurated soon.
The Ava (Ema) market and Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) will also be inaugurated soon, he said.
He further said that two Higher Secondary Schools in the district will be upgraded and construction of school buildings at Kamjong and Kasom will be completed soon.
Construction of two schools under School Fagathansi at Kamjong and Kasom Khullen is also nearing completion, he said and added that the construction of DIET Centre at Kasom Khullen is underway
33/11 KV sub-stations are being constructed at Nambashi and Ramphoi, he added.
The Chief Minister also emphasized on some major projects sanctioned recently for the district viz. sanctioning of NH-102A Shangshak to Tengnoupal with an estimated total cost of around Rs 1300 crore.
He added that the construction of a bridge at Maklang River has been sanctioned and the District Transport Office (DTO) at Kamjong will be opened soon. He also stated that the Government would consider developing the village as a tourist destination by initiating various developmental projects in the area.
Citing developmental works taken in the hill districts, N Biren Singh mentioned that an astro turf football ground has been handed over to the people of Ukhrul district.
The gallery of the Ukhrul sports complex was constructed by the BJP-led Government. Construction of an amusement park is underway, he added. Pettigrew College will be upgraded with an estimated cost of around 70 crore, he added.
To redress the problem of scarcity of water in Ukhrul district, a dam has been constructed in Shiroy hill and a total amount of around Rs 6 crore has been sanctioned, he said.
The State Government is also considering establishment of a degree college in Kamjong district, he added.
The Chief Minister also assured that the Government will construct a gallery with an estimated cost of around Rs 2.5 crore at Lungreiphung ground of Riha village, Kamjong district.
The function was attended by the Ministers, MLAs, Village Chiefs, CSO leaders, and locals of Riha village among others.
