IMPHAL, Jan 22: REYS Nagamapal's 19-run victory against YPHU Lalambung today has booked the team a spot in the semifinals of the 21st Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament 2024-25.
With the last quarterfinal match between REYS and YPHU today, the semifinals line-up has completed for the tournament.
CYCLONE Thang-meiband will now face YWC Langthabal in the first semifinal match at Langthabal Public Ground on January 25.
REYS Nagamapal will face TCMDC Thongju in the second semifinal on January 27, as per a fixture provided earlier.
REYS vs YPHU
In the 4th quarterfinal match today, REYS won the toss and opted to face the ball first to score a total of 204 runs for 9 wickets in 30 overs.
In return, YPHU managed to score only 185 runs for 10 wickets in 29.2 overs.
REYS Jayanta, who was named man of the match, knocked a massive 80 runs off 64 balls to help the team reach 204. He also took 2 wickets.
Chingkheinganba scored 27 runs off 28 balls and Dhaneshor scored 21 runs off 30 balls.
YPHU's Jinta Irengbam, Kumarkanta and Ponil took 2 wickets each. Devkumar and Boiton took one wicket each.
In the chase for the target, YPHU's L Surjit knocked 44 runs off 31 balls and team-mate, Thenthen scored 35 off 32 balls.
Alai alias Sashikanta scored 28 runs off 30 balls.
An impressive REYS balling and fielding arrested YPHU at 185 runs.
REYS' Momo took 3 wickets. S Jayenta, Chingkheinganba and Pyarlal took 2 wickets each. Bedamohon took one wicket.
Quarterfinals earlier
On January 20, YWC Langthabal entered the semifinals after beating NAPSA Kha-Imphal by 31 runs.
YWC Langthabal elected to bat first and amassed 192 runs for 8 wickets in 30 overs.
NAPSA Kha-Imphal managed to score only 161 runs for 10 wickets in 28.5 overs.
In the January 18 quarterfinal match, CYCLONE Thangmeiband sealed an 11-run victory against LCCC Lilong Chajing.
CYCLONE took 149 runs in 30 overs.
LCCC couldn't reach the target and scored only 138 runs in 27 overs.
In the January 17 quarterfinal match, TCMDC Thongju beat BKCC Bamon Kampu by 76 runs.
TCMDC won the toss and opted to bat first to score 219 runs for 7 wickets in 30 overs.
BKCC managed to score only 143 runs for all wickets down in 29 overs.
