Workshop kicks off

IMPHAL, Jan 21 : A two-day authors' workshop on "Academic writing to develop textbooks for higher education in Bharatiya language-Manipuri" commenced today at the VC Court Hall of Manipur University today.
The workshop was organised by the Manipuri Bhasa Samvardhan Samiti, MBSS Manipur University under the aegis of Bharatiya Bhasa Samiti and the University Grants Commission.
Addressing the gathering, Professor N Lokendra, Vice Chancellor, Manipur University and Nodal Officer of MBSS, MU, asserted that a culture is incomplete without language.
With the introduction of NEP 2020, there is a need to incorporate regional languages in all levels of education-from the school to the university level, he maintained.
The event was also graced by Dr Mriganka Sekhar Sarma, Deputy Secretary, UGC, New Delhi; Professor N Rajmuhon Singh, former VC, Dhanamanjuri University and Professor P Gunindro Singh, VC, Manipur University of Culture as the presidium members.
Professor S Imoba, Nodal Representative of MBSS, MU was also present at the workshop.
