Meghalaya CM, MP (Outer) and others attend funeral MLA Kayisii laid to rest

SENAPATI, Jan 20 : Many notable dignitaries including Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, Outer Manipur MP Alfred Arthur, National People's Party leaders, State legislators and Naga apex CSO leaders attended the funeral service of MLA N Kayisii held at MBC Makhan Khuman Church compound today.
Other attendees at the funeral of the Manipur State NPP president included James Sangma, former Health Minister & Chairman, Meghalaya Industrial Development Corporation; Janghemlung Panmei, MLA, Tamenglong AC; Sheikh Noorul Hassan, MLA, Kshetrigao AC; Losii Dikho, MLA, 48-Mao AC; former Minister Francis Ngajokpa, former Deputy Speaker K Raina and former ADC Chairman A Kapani.
Condoling the passing of N Kayisii, the Meghalaya Chief Minister expressed deep sorrow and a great sense of loss.
N Kayisii was not only a close ally of the NPP but also a true member of the family. He was an extraordinary leader who touched the lives of countless people, he said.
"His demise is a huge loss for the NPP, whom he had led since 2021 in Manipur State," Chief Minister Conrad stated.
He said that he was deeply moved by the late MLA's kindness, simplicity and unwavering dedication to the people.
The late MLA is said to have a deep friendship with the Meghalaya Chief Minister.
Stating that the NPP and the people of Manipur have lost a wise leader, MP Alfred Arthur called N Kayisii a good brother, a good friend and a wise advisor.
"Creating leaders that are worthy of the people is the need of the hour," he said and lauded the sacrifices that MLA Kayisii had made for people's welfare.  
Addressing the gathering, A Kapani reminisced the advice of the late MLA who told him to stand firm in the truth.
The former ADC Chairman gave credit to the deceased leader whose advice and guidance has brought development to the region. N Kayisii rendered his services not only for his Constituency but for the overall development of the district, he said.
Although the MLA sought medical treatment outside the State, he was confident of his return and continuing to work for the people of the region after recovery.
His integrity for all people remained the same, irrespective of belonging to different tribes and castes. As the former Minister for Tribal Affairs & Hills, he made sure not to harm the interest of tribals, he added.
MLA L Dikho hailed the late MLA for being a good leader and further praised the Meghalaya Chief Minister for coming all the way from Meghalaya to bid farewell to the  Manipur State NPP president.
Naga apex bodies including United Naga Council, Naga Women's Union, All Naga Students Association, Manipur and different tribal, women and student bodies offered their condolences at the funeral service.
During the latter part of the program, Rev A Pfokrelo, executive secretary of the Mao Baptist Churches Association performed the commital rites.
