Hun-Thadou Cultural Festival 2025 to be held in Guwahati
IMPHAL, Jan 20
The Hun-Thadou Cultural Festival 2025, is set to take place on April 4, 2025 in Guwahati, Assam.
According to a joint press release issued by Thadou Community International(TCI), Thadou Inpi Manipur & Thadou Students’ Association (TSA)- GHQ, this grand celebration of the Thadou comunity's rich cultural heritage symbolizes renewal, growth and the deep connection to the sprouting of newly sown seeds.
Hun, officially recognized as a restricted holiday in Manipur, has been celebrated for generations. This year’s decision to host the festival in Guwahati reflects an effort to include Thadou individuals living outside Manipur and to create an inclusive and safe environment for the celebration, it added.
The event also aims to reaffirm the Thadou Tribe's unique identity and heritage, particularly in Assam, where the Thadou are recognized as an Indigenous Tribe.
The festival provides a platform to celebrate the distinct cultural legacy of the Thadou people while addressing misconceptions linking the community exclusively with Kuki identity, it added. An Organizing Committee has been formed to ensure the success of the festival, with sub-committees managing key areas such as guest coordination, finance, publications, cultural programs, hospitality, logistics, and community mobilization.
These teams are working diligently to make the festival a memorable experience.
