IMPHAL, Jan 2 : Manipur Government Services Federation, Manipur State Pensioners Union and Manipur Secretariat Services Association have hailed the State Government’s move of raising employees’ DA to 39 per cent.
Speaking to media persons at their Pishum office today, Manipur State Pensioners Union vice president Laishram Sarat said that appreciate the Government for raising the DA to 39 per cent but it is still below the DA given to Central Government employees.
The associations have been making several demands since a long time back. A memorandum containing seven demands was submitted to Chief Secretary Vineet Joshi recently and it included raising the DA to the level given to Central Government employees, Sarat said.
He said that DA given to Central Government employees is hiked twice in a year in January and July as per the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission and it has reached 53 per cent.
He hoped that the State Government would soon initiate due process to raise the DA given to its employees to the level given to Central Government employees.
He maintained that raising the DA of employees can help check inflation. Even though a gazette notification has been issued on reviewing the Minimum Wages Act, the Finance Department has not yet issued any order in this regard. As such, labourers including those working in the private sector are still denied economic justice, Sarat said.
He then urged the Finance Department to issue the pending order at the earliest and ensure that economic justice is done to all labourers and employees of private sectors.
