IMPHAL, Jan 2 : As part of the 191st National Reconsolidation Month which kicked off on December 22, 2024, the United Peoples' Front (UPF) Manipur organised a poster campaign in front of their office at Keishamthong Laisom Leirak today.
The 191st National Reconsolidation Month observation programmes will continue till January 9, 2025.
It is being held in remembrance of the Seven Years Devastation (Chahi Taret Khuntakpa) under the theme "We will never desert our villages again" (Eikhoi Amuk Hanna Khuntaklaroi).
On the occasion, Nongthombam Rupachandra Meetei, chairman, 191st National Reconsolidation Month Observation Committee, informed that on the last day of the function, floral tributes will be paid at the resting place of Maharaj Gambhir Singh at Canchipur and a march will be taken out which will culminate at THAU Ground in Thangmeiband.
On the same day, valedictory programmes will be held at three sites in Assam, namely, Chandrapur in Cachar, Leng Ondabi Pat and Awa Palli and at Jiribam.
He added that the observance programmes seek to honour Maharaj Gambhir Singh who freed Manipur from Burmese occupation thereby ending the Seven Years Devastation and bringing back the people who fled their villages in Manipur.
Stating that many have fled from their villages in Churachandpur, Moreh and Jiribam as a result of the conflict, he said people should unite and resolve to never desert their villages again.
UPF Manipur is set to start a publicity campaign from tomorrow with the four slogans "Let us never desert our villages again", "We will decide our future", "Let us discard the idea of disunity" and "We will never allow enemies to lay siege to the State".
